Rebuilding an Oregon Icon and One of the State's Top Tourist Destinations
Tillamook Creamery Visitor Center
The Tillamook Creamery is an Oregon icon and one of the state’s top tourist destinations with over 1.3 million visitors annually and as many as 17,000 visitors daily during the summer. Hoffman subsidiary Precision Construction built the new 38,500 SF visitor center featuring an enhanced ice cream counter, a new coffee counter, an expanded gift shop, and a larger café with indoor seating and a spacious 4,300 SF outdoor covered patio for year-round enjoyment.
Interactive features include research and development and sensory work spaces for focus groups. Public spaces also include farm education rooms, a cheese production viewing gallery, and tasting spaces. The scope of work included improvements to back-of-house services and major seismic upgrades.

Creating a Refined Visitor Space from an Industrial Material Palette
While floating on 157 auger cast piles, the building showcases an open floor plan, a beautiful array of columns, hand-waxed structural steel, concrete floors, a robust professional kitchen, and 25,000 SF cross-laminated timber roof system that required careful and exacting placement.
Schedule and Cost Performance on a Challenging Site
Despite more than 100 inches of rain a year and a new building sitting on a bed of sand, the project team delivered the center two months ahead of schedule and well under budget.
