This project includes two facilities built concurrently on the busy WSU-Vancouver campus. One is a 2-level, 18,000 SF Student Center; the other is a complex, 12,000 SF remodel of the campus bookstore. The project was built without disruption to the WSU campus environment at the school’s main “front door” and on the banks of a small wetland. When the entire project was put on hold for financial reasons right after Hoffman signed the contract, we waited for WSU, holding to the agreement we had made. It was finally funded several years later; the market was much tighter by that time, driving up construction fees and subcontractor pricing. Still, we remained at our initial fee level and built the project for the original price plus a small adjustment for escalation.
