Keeping Patients Safe During Construction in the Heart of a Busy Medical Campus
Muilenburg Tower
In spite of challenges working within a 24/7 facility and next to sensitive services like a cancer therapy center for immunosuppressed patients, this four-phase project earned bonuses for timely delivery. Final completion was nine days ahead of schedule. Access and staging were extremely restricted since all work occurred on the top two floors of an eight-story structure located in the heart of a busy medical campus. To address special issues like infection control, Hoffman developed an Interim Life Safety Measure program that is now a model for other projects. The 75,000 SF remodel was a mechanical system-intensive project due to the treatment and care of cancer patients, including bone marrow transplant patients.
