As Student Population Surges, Hoffman Helps a Washington School District Adapt and Thrive

Kellogg Middle School Replacements

Building new middle schools on a busy campus, Hoffman implemented proven safety and ‘no disruption’ protocols to protect students, staff, and the public.

The new Kellogg Middle School is 150,000 square feet and serves around 1,000 students in grades 6-8. The mass-timber project includes the first use of acoustic Dowel-Laminated Timber (DLT) in the United States. Hoffman built a pair of new middle schools for the Shoreline School District; both existing schools remained occupied throughout construction and finished in time for the schools to open in August 2020. The Kellogg Middle School project added general classrooms, reconfigured staff and visitor parking, new bus load/unload zones, a kitchen and cafeteria, administrative offices and support areas, play areas, upgrades to the tennis courts, a track and field refresh, various site amenities, and landscaping throughout the site.
